Income Tax

The Village of Perry has a 1% income tax that was first passed in 1987 for the purposes of general municipal operation. All residents 18 and over must file a tax form as of April 15th of each year. These taxes are collected by the Regional Income Tax Agency, www.ritaohio.com for the village.

Effective January 1, 2010 the 100% credit for taxes paid to other communities has been repealed. This change might require you to pay Perry Village income taxes quarterly depending on your circumstances.

For this year, the due date for filing Municipal taxes is Monday April 18th, not Friday April 15th for the following reasons:
1)      April 16, 2011 is an observed government holiday in Washington DC, Emancipation Day.
2)      April 16, 2011 falls on a Saturday this year, therefore, the holiday will be observed on April 15, 2011.
3)      Government offices will be closed on that day in Washington DC moving the IRS filling deadline to the next business day which is Monday, April 18, 2011
4)      By State Law Municipalities must follow the IRS Filing Deadline

Forms are available at village hall between 8AM and 4PM or on the RITA website. Better yet, go green for free, File your 2010 Municipal Income Tax Returns online.
